Comparison of the Shear Modulus of an Offshore Elastomeric Bearing between Numerical Simulation and Experiment

The most important item when indicating the mechanical properties of offshore elastomeric bearings is shear modulus, and method measuring this shown in EN 1337-3, a regulation related to bearings. In work, we conducted an experimental numerical study on bearing find its modulus. Shear modulus tests were according procedure specified 1337-3 Annex F, while simulations performed using finite element analysis (FEA) software, ANSYS. main objective research work determine optimum conditions for simulation that considers nonlinear model elastomer material predicts results accurately. We considered Mooney–Rivlin (M-R) has two-parameter (2P), five-parameter (5P), nine-parameter (9P) forms, depending number terms series. observed load-displacement graph linear, percentage error between obtained with 2P 5P M-R models around 2.23% compression 0.38% shear. from showed good agreement correlation coefficient (R2) being 0.999 average about 2%.
